Melissa Songer, 26-year-old woman from Kirksville, Missouri was sentenced to to five years in prison on a charge of 2nd-degree statutory rape in 2010.

Songer completed the 120-day sex offender assessment and requested to be placed on probation. Circuit Judge Russell Steele denied Songer’s request and ordered her to serve the remainder of her sentence in state prison.

According to the order denying probation issued by Steele’s office, Songer was not granted probation due to “numerous violations of department institutional rules and regulations and her poor institutional adjustment,” making her not a viable candidate.

Songer admitted to engaging in sex with a 13-year-old boy and was ordered to first serve 120 days in the Department of Corrections Sex Offender Assessment Unit. Depending on how well she does during those 120 days, she could have served probation for the remainder of the five years. Apparently Songer did NOT do too well.

After serving the five years in prison, Songer will be required to be under lifetime supervision by wearing a GPS ankle bracelet.
