Female Sex Offenders

Laura Lea Pace, a teacher at Eustis High School in Eustis, Florida was arrested in October 2008 and charged with five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Pace, who was 38 at the time of her arrest,  engaged in sex and smoked marijuana with two of her 16-year-old male students. The offenses occurred during the 2007-08 school year.
Court papers showed that Pace, who was married, had an ongoing relationship with one teen, then an encounter with the second. The papers say she sent images of her breasts and buttocks to one teen via cell phone.
The first teen boy told detectives about at least seven encounters with Pace at his home and hers, according to a probable-cause affidavit. Investigators say he provided them with a loveletter handwritten on the fronts and backs of eight pages that Pace left in his mailbox, in which she apologizes for her sexual encounter with the other teen boy.
The second teen told investigators he had one encounter with Pace at her home, where they also smoked marijuana and she offered him Adderall, an amphetamine. Both boys were 16 at the time and both have transferred to another school.
In November 2009 Laura Pace pleaded guilty to lewd and lascivious battery of a child, showing obscene material to a minor, unlawful sexual activity with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She also pleaded no contest to providing marijuana to a person younger than 18.
Pace, who began her career with the district as a substitute teacher in 1995 and served as a cheerleading adviser, might  have engaged in “grade-fixing,” rewarding her schoolboy lovers with scores they didn’t earn. One of the boys suspected that he lost his automatic “A” in Pace’s class when he “cut her off.”

In January 2010 Laura Pace was sentenced to two years in prison for engaging in sex with two schoolboys.
Circuit Judge Mark Nacke, imposed the 24-month prison term to be followed by 10 years of sex-offender probation. He could have sentenced her to more than 20 years in prison if he had strictly followed Florida sentencing guidelines.
The victims were 15 and 16 when they had sex with Pace during the 2007-08 school year.
Both boys said they left Eustis High because of their notoriety and never again participated in high-school sports, a loss both regret. Both were involved in athletics and may have been chosen by Pace because of that prowess.
